Suse has launched a pioneering Cloud Sovereignty Framework Self Assessment tool, aimed at empowering its customers to identify and address any compliance gaps concerning the forthcoming 2025 EU Cloud Sovereignty Framework.
Introduced on January 29, this innovative web-based, self-service platform is designed to thoroughly evaluate an organization’s cloud infrastructure against the strictures of the EU Cloud Sovereignty Framework. The assessment generates a clear, objective Sovereignty Effective Assurance Levels (SEAL) score, providing a precise measure of an organization’s adherence across the eight core objectives outlined by the framework. Furthermore, the tool offers a tailored roadmap, guiding users on how to close compliance deficiencies by leveraging Suse’s robust solutions and its extensive European partner network.
Key functionalities offered by Suse’s assessment tool include:
- **The SEAL Benchmark:** This feature assigns the organization to one of five distinct SEAL levels, ranging from ‘No Sovereignty’ up to ‘Full Digital Sovereignty’.
- **Weighted Risk Analysis:** The tool meticulously weighs eight sovereignty objectives (SOVs), placing particular emphasis on supply chain (20%) and operational autonomy (15%), thus highlighting the most critical areas of vulnerability.
- **Trust-Based Engagement:** For user privacy and control, all assessment results are securely stored locally within the user’s browser.
- **Consultative Roadmap:** Users receive a comprehensive, actionable improvement plan, conveniently available for download as a PDF document.
In detailing this significant assessment, Suse pointed out that leading industry analyst firm Forrester anticipates digital and AI sovereignty will catalyze a resurgence in private cloud adoption, projecting a doubled year-over-year growth by 2026. With the 2025 EU Cloud Sovereignty Framework rapidly approaching, organizations that fail to demonstrate verifiable digital sovereignty risk contract ineligibility. Suse emphasizes that its Cloud Sovereignty Framework Self Assessment is designed to streamline and simplify this crucial compliance journey.
